In a video message shared on social media, Casey announced, “I just called Dave McCormick to congratulate him on his election to represent Pennsylvania in the United States Senate.” He emphasized the importance of the electoral process, stating that Pennsylvanians can now move forward knowing their voices were heard, regardless of when their votes were counted.
Casey expressed gratitude towards the thousands of individuals involved in the electoral process, including election officials across all 67 counties, for ensuring every eligible vote was counted.
Dave McCormick, in response to Casey’s concession, acknowledged the senator’s long-standing dedication to the state. He stated, “Senator Bob Casey dedicated his career to bettering our commonwealth. Dina and I want to extend our sincere gratitude to Senator Casey, Terese, and their family for their decades of service, hard work, and personal sacrifice.”
McCormick further expressed his commitment to his new role, saying, “I am so honored to represent every single citizen in Pennsylvania in the United States Senate and will fight for you every day.”
The concession came after Casey had initially refused to accept the election results, insisting that all votes be counted. This stance delayed McCormick’s participation in Senate orientation, which was initially blocked by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.
Dave McCormick’s victory in this Senate race is particularly significant given his previous unsuccessful bid for a Senate seat two years ago against Democrat John Fetterman. This time, McCormick’s perseverance has paid off, securing him a place in the U.S. Senate.
