Clear Facts
- Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna expressed that Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has lost significant public support during his “Benefits over Billionaires” tour.
- Chuck Todd was taken aback by Khanna’s assertion that Schumer is more criticized than Vice President JD Vance.
- Khanna attributes Schumer’s diminishing popularity to his handling of a GOP-backed spending bill and a general frustration with long-standing Democratic leadership.
In a surprising exchange on a podcast, Democratic California Rep. Ro Khanna shared his observations about the declining popularity of Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. Khanna, who has been engaging with Americans across the country during his “Benefits over Billionaires” tour, revealed that Schumer’s reputation has taken a significant hit.
Khanna noted that the public’s discontent with Schumer is even more pronounced than their criticism of Vice President JD Vance.
“Chuck Schumer has squandered any goodwill he had,” Khanna stated.
The host, visibly surprised, interrupted, “Wow. Let me pause that. That was very matter-of-fact of you just now … I have sensed that myself, but you’re the one traveling a lot more than I am right now.”
Khanna went on to explain that people are more inclined to criticize figures like Elon Musk and Donald Trump before turning their attention to Schumer.
“It’s shocking to me, right? They’ll criticize [Elon] Musk first, [President Donald] Trump second and then Schumer more than even JD Vance,” he explained.
The host, still processing the information, questioned whether Schumer’s unpopularity might be linked to lingering frustrations with former President Joe Biden.
“Is this Biden hangover stuff? Meaning he’s the last, quote-unquote, old guy still in leadership, and they’re so angry at this generation that didn’t leave, you know, in time, frankly, arguably,” the host pondered.
Khanna agreed that some of the dissatisfaction stems from Biden’s era but highlighted Schumer’s March decision to support a GOP-backed spending bill as a pivotal moment.
“Now, whatever you think about it, he just didn’t do a good job explaining himself,” Khanna said. “People felt he should have stood up. He should have had a fight.”
Adding to the concern, a chief data analyst warned Schumer about his declining support among New York Democrats.
“New York Democrats on Chuck Schumer — view him favorably in December of 2024. That was just a few months ago — it was 73%,” the analyst noted. “Look at where that number has fallen to in just a few months. It is now down to just 52%.”
This significant drop in approval ratings suggests that Schumer’s political future might be in jeopardy, as he grapples with both internal party challenges and public dissatisfaction.

I have said all along that Schumer is one that likes to regurgitate for his own benefit. He doesn’t seem to care about what’s best for those whom he serves. In fact today those who were voted in to serve the Citizenry are actually serving themselves! VERY SAD!

Actually, no. As long as they keep coming up with the same old garbage, I believe they will continue to lose ground which would be to the advantage of the conservatives, not necessarily republicans, but true conservatives.
