Arizona state lawmakers have raised significant concerns with the Department of Justice (DOJ) regarding Dr. Daniel Shumer, a transgender youth advocate and doctor. Dr. Shumer has been involved in opposing an executive order aimed at protecting children from chemical and surgical procedures related to gender transition.

Dr. Shumer, who leads the Child and Adolescent Gender Services Clinic at the University of Michigan’s children’s hospital, has admitted to plagiarism by his university’s standards. This admission came as he served as an expert witness in a case challenging Arizona’s Save Women’s Sports Act.

Arizona State Senate President Warren Peterson and Speaker of the Arizona House of Representatives Steve Montenegro have brought these issues to the attention of Attorney General Pam Bondi. They stated, “Because Dr. Shumer has served as an expert witness under the previous administration and is currently an expert witness against the United States, we write to bring important legal and ethical issues to your attention.”

The lawmakers highlighted that Shumer’s testimony in two cases against the executive order contained “identical or virtually identical language” to sections of his testimony in the Arizona case. Consequently, they filed a motion on March 5 to exclude his testimony, citing “numerous instances in his expert report containing identical or virtually identical language to other expert witnesses, without attribution.”

Despite initially denying the plagiarism allegations, Dr. Shumer later acknowledged that it was a mistake not to cite other experts. Over the past several years, he has received nearly $150,000 for providing expert testimony against state bans on child sex change procedures.

Dr. Shumer’s past collaboration with the DOJ as an expert witness in a case opposing Alabama’s ban on child sex changes also raises questions. The letter to Bondi notes, “We do not know the exact dates when the Department of Justice terminated Dr. Shumer and the State of Washington retained Dr. Shumer.” This timeline has led to inquiries about whether Shumer began working against the United States while still serving as a witness for the government.

The Arizona legislature leaders have urged the DOJ to evaluate whether Shumer adhered to his retention agreement and any other obligations while serving as a witness for the United States. They also suggested the DOJ investigate whether Shumer’s testimony “raises perjury issues,” noting, “He claimed that the words in the report were his.”

An executive order was signed on January 28, restricting federal funding from supporting the “so-called ‘transition’ of a child from one sex to another.” However, two judges have since blocked the administration from withholding funds from hospitals performing child sex change procedures.

Dr. Shumer did not respond to requests for comment.

This is the proper way to handle this person . . . By the rule of law. While the Left rationalized the murder of the Healthcare CEO, and the assassination attempts on the president and all of the domestic terrorist’s crimes, the rule of law needs to be applied. If you don’t like the laws then change them, otherwise we are bound by them. Unlike the past administration who routinely ignored and violated them. His gave man a free will to choose, but there are consequences with every decision we make regardless of whether you are on gbdd egg Right left or in between.
