WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • On Sunday, President Donald Trump said that he would quit Fox News following an announcement that he was behind Biden in the recent polls.
  • While Trump has received support from his Republican party, no reports have indicated that he currently has a 96% rating.
  • Fox News has been receiving frequent attacks from the President, but the network has always been friendly with Trump in the past.

On Sunday, President Donald Trump expressed he’s going to quit Fox News patronage after the media company showed that he is losing the presidential race against former Vice President.

Trump then said he is number 1 on the real polls, but he did not give a reference.

The President has repeatedly claimed that more than 96% of Republicans support him. While Trump has indeed got backing from other members of his party, there’s no recent survey that specifically said he has those statistics.

A Hill-Harris X survey last week showed that he got an 82 percent approval rating from the Republicans, a 9 percent dip from 91% only in May.

Other than lambasting the network, Trump also encouraged his supporters to leave the channel.

The recent tirade was not the first time Trump has frequently attacked outlets about reporting polls that don’t go his way.  Last month, the President even slapped CNN with a cease and desist warning for announcing a poll result showing Biden leading by 14 points.

Trump’s campaign team was said to detach from some polling agencies last month after an alleged leakage in internal results. The said polls reportedly indicated that Trump was behind Biden in several swing states.

The President has been vocal about his disapproval with Fox News for several instances in the last few months. He criticized the network in May, saying that Fox is was not helping the Republicans and that he is seeking a new media company.

Despite Trump’s attacks, Fox News has maintained a welcoming atmosphere for the President and his allies,  with talk show hosts like Sean Hannity, who has mostly praised the government.

Last weekend, the network even edited a photo removing Trump on the frame with late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
