  • Young voters supported President Donald Trump in the 2024 election before returning to Democratic preferences in 2025.
  • Nearly half of respondents, 49 percent, cited personal financial concerns as their top issue.

Young voters are showing renewed preference for Democratic candidates after helping secure President Donald Trump’s victory in 2024. The shift appears in the latest Harvard Youth Poll released Thursday.

The survey reveals a 63 percent to 26 percent advantage for Democrats among Americans aged 18 to 29. This marks a reversal from the support many in this group gave Trump during the presidential contest.

“Nearly half of young Americans, 49%, said their personal financial situation was the most important issue facing them.”

Economic pressures remain the dominant concern for this age group. Respondents listed job security, wages, and cost of living ahead of other policy matters.

“The poll also found that 42% of young voters said they would support a Democratic candidate for Congress in 2026, while only 31% said they would back a Republican.”

The data indicates that traditional Republican messaging on fiscal restraint and border security has not retained the loyalty of younger voters. Democrats continue to emphasize expanded government programs and student debt relief.

Not surprising. This generation thinks only of themselves. Educated by liberals they’ve been taught to hate capitalism and demand whatever they want. They’re not having children so they aren’t worried about the future.
