A medical watchdog organization has raised concerns that a public health journal is prioritizing activism over impartial scientific inquiry by soliciting work that attacks conservative viewpoints.

The Boston Congress of Public Health Review invited submissions from researchers and students specifically affected by conservative policies, including abortion bans and opposition to transgender procedures for children.

Topics the journal seeks include critiques of abortion bans, restrictions on gender-related medical procedures, and the consequences of so-called anti-climate policies.

The journal asks for stories on barriers to researching subjects like reproductive issues, LGBTQ+ health, and gun violence, as well as reflections on how conservative laws impact public health education and careers.

Additional submission themes include “Lesbian Health,” Indigenous health, immigration, and the experiences of minority groups.

Contributors are encouraged to use a “social justice checklist” that emphasizes marginalized groups such as racial minorities and LGBTQ+ individuals.

Do No Harm Medical Director Kurt Miceli commented on the situation.

“The Boston Congress of Public Health Review’s blatantly partisan call for submissions highlights the harmful politicization of medicine,” Miceli said.

He also stated that the journal prioritizes ideology over evidence-based inquiry.

“Empirical study gets displaced by ideological narratives rooted in identity politics and progressive activism,” he told The Daily Wire.

Miceli emphasized the essential role of medical journals is to support fact-based dialogue, not promote activist agendas.

Some critics argue this approach undermines trust in healthcare and advances a political agenda contrary to traditional values.
