Three Dallas Cowboys players were fined by the NFL for penalties committed during the team’s season-opening loss to the New York Giants. The fines were outlined in the league’s weekly accountability report.

Linebacker DeMarvion Overshown received a $9,527 fine for a late hit on Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart early in the first quarter. The unnecessary roughness penalty gave New York 15 yards and helped set up a touchdown drive.

Defensive end Donovan Ezeiruaku was fined $11,941 for grabbing a Giants player’s facemask late in the fourth quarter. The penalty allowed New York to run out the clock and secure the victory.

Running back Javonte Williams was also fined $11,941 for taunting Giants safety Tyler Nubin after scoring a touchdown in the fourth quarter. Williams held the ball toward Nubin after crossing the goal line.

“I don’t know why I did it. It’s just out of character. You don’t got to worry about that no more,” Williams said afterward. “The damage is already done. It’s my fault. I’m better than that. I’m a pro.”

Dallas finished the game with nine accepted penalties. The Giants were assessed 11 penalties of their own as the NFC East rivals combined for 20 total infractions.
