Amazon has rolled out a new benefit for its Prime members, offering them the opportunity to save on fuel costs. This initiative allows Prime members to enjoy a discount of 10 cents per gallon when filling up at around 7,000 gas stations across the United States.
The participating gas stations include BP, Amoco, and ampm locations, as confirmed by the company. To take advantage of this offer, Prime members need to create an Earnify account and link it to their Amazon account.
Amazon and Earnify each contribute 5 cents per gallon to this discount, resulting in a total savings of 10 cents per gallon for Prime members. This offer applies to all fuel grades and does not impose any restrictions on the number of gallons purchased.
To utilize the discount, Prime members can either input their phone number or linked payment method at the pump. Alternatively, they can access the savings through the Earnify app.
Jamil Ghani, Vice President of Amazon Prime, expressed enthusiasm about this new benefit, stating,
“We’re constantly looking to add more value for Prime members and perhaps the broadest and most popular additional benefit we could offer is fuel savings — we’re excited to give this to Prime members.”
This fuel savings initiative comes in the wake of a similar offering from other membership programs. Earnify, the platform required to access Amazon Prime’s gas savings, was introduced by BP earlier this month. BP aims to provide a “seamless, integrated, and rewarding experience for users, both at the pump and in-store” through this rewards app.
As of late Wednesday, the national average price for a gallon of regular gas was $3.155, according to AAA. This price marks a decrease of over 1.6% from the previous month and an 11.1% drop from the same time last year. The U.S. experienced a record-high average gas price of $5.016 per gallon in mid-June 2022.
