Biden’s Unexpected Decision Shocks Political Landscape
Clear Facts
- President Biden pardoned his son, Hunter Biden, after convictions in two federal cases.
- Hunter Biden faced charges related to firearm offenses and tax evasion.
- The pardon marks a reversal from President Biden’s earlier stance of not intervening.
In a move that has sparked considerable debate, President Biden has pardoned his son, Hunter Biden, following his convictions in two separate federal cases this year. The White House made the announcement on Sunday night, marking a significant shift from the president’s previous statements on the matter.
“Today, I signed a pardon for my son Hunter,” President Biden stated. He emphasized his commitment to not interfering with the Justice Department’s decisions, asserting that his son was “selectively, and unfairly, prosecuted.”
Hunter Biden, aged 54, encountered legal troubles beginning in June with a trial in Delaware. He faced three felony firearm charges and later pleaded guilty in a separate felony tax case in September. The president’s decision to pardon his son diverges from his earlier remarks over the summer, where he assured the media he would not offer such a pardon.
The gun-related charges stemmed from Hunter’s false statements during a firearm purchase in 2018. Prosecutors presented evidence that Hunter lied on a federal firearm form, denying any substance abuse despite a well-documented history of drug addiction. His memoir, “Beautiful Things,” details his struggles with crack cocaine, which played a significant role in the trial.
Hunter’s legal team did not contest his history with substance abuse. Instead, they argued that he did not view himself as an active addict at the time of the gun purchase, citing his rehabilitation efforts. However, prosecutors provided evidence of his continued addiction, including text messages indicating ongoing drug use.
In addition to the firearm case, Hunter faced charges related to tax evasion. He was accused of failing to pay over $1.4 million in taxes, leading to another trial. As jury selection began in Los Angeles, Hunter entered a surprise guilty plea, stating, “I will not subject my family to more pain, more invasions of privacy and needless embarrassment.”
The potential consequences of these charges included up to 17 years in prison, though federal guidelines suggested a shorter sentence. His sentencing was initially set for December 16.
The pardon has undoubtedly stirred political discourse, raising questions about fairness and the influence of familial ties in legal proceedings.

Anyone that thpught he was t going to pardon his son is out of their minds .many things are said and opposite actions taken . There is a 2 tiered justice system and when your family is a high level
There are no consequences . The average guy would be locked up and have t served their sentence .Ask yourself this if you could pardon your child or let them face17 years in prison . What would you do? Especially when your authority to do so was expiring very soon . Clearly it’s abuse of power but it is our system that allows for it . Why should we expect that anyone is gong to do anything right when the last4 years has been undoubtedly the worst 4 years in this country .

I personally think that Biden should be made to face justice and the results of his decisions,if it would had been anyone else they would have had to serve most of the time as sat forth by law, or at least part of the sentence and pay back taxes and the money that the taxpayers have paid on him, including security personnel, lodging, etc.

Hunter Biden: Crack Whore of America, trying to show young people what they as america could do of they put their mind to it, giving a poor underprivileged prostitute’s a job while he was getting one. You know he had to incise and take care of them by having thousand of dollars of elicit drugs. Hunter Biden and Joe are the biggest embarrassment to ever come into the US political and court system. Get rid of BOTH and try and move on from all the damage they have done.
