Bezos argues with White House over plans on inflation and taxes

  • Amazon founder Jeff Bezos criticized President Joe Biden’s plans on easing inflation by increasing taxes on corporations and the rich.
  • The White House accused Bezos of trying to protect his wealth and deter unionization.
  • Bezos then argued that inflation in the U.S. is caused not by wealthy people but by the administration’s stimulus policies.

A war of words has been escalating between Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and the White House over President Joe Biden’s plans on handling inflation by increasing taxes on the rich.

It started over the weekend when the president tweeted, “You want to bring down inflation? Let’s make sure the wealthiest corporations pay their fair share.”

Bezos responded, “Raising corp taxes is fine to discuss. Taming inflation is critical to discuss. Mushing them together is just misdirection.”

He argued that the president is spreading misinformation by claiming that increasing taxes on the rich would lower consumer costs and ease inflation.

The administration made an unusually personal response, suggesting that Bezos was just protecting his wealth.

White House spokesperson Andrew Bates remarked, “It doesn’t require a huge leap to figure out why one of the wealthiest individuals on Earth opposes an economic agenda” that would ask “the richest taxpayers and corporations to pay their fair share.”

Bates also pointed out the timing of Bezos’ statements, which come “after the President met with labor organizers, including Amazon employees.”

According to Bates, the administration’s economic plan “cuts some of the biggest costs families face, fights inflation for the long haul, and adds to the historic deficit reduction the president is achieving.”

Bezos then argued that the administration is now trying to “muddy the topic” to misdirect the public.

“They know inflation hurts the neediest the most,” Bezos tweeted. “But unions aren’t causing inflation and neither are wealthy people.”

Biden had previously slammed Amazon for paying too little in federal taxes. He also appeared to show support to workers who wished to unionize.

But Bezos remarked that it was the administration’s stimulus policies that kept stoking the inflation, which has risen to near 40-year highs. He said that had the administration succeeded in adding another $3.5 trillion to federal spending, “inflation would be even higher than it is today.”

The pandemic has further driven up global prices, but some economists have attributed the inflation in the U.S. to last year’s $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan, which was backed by Biden. Meanwhile, some experts advised spending to help avoid an economic slowdown.

The president has been facing surmounting pressure to ease inflation, which some economists think could be accomplished by raising certain taxes.

So far, however, the president’s plans for spending and taxes, such as making corporations and billionaires like Bezos pay more, have failed to secure enough support in Congress.

Bezos and Musk are 100% right. While liberal commie Democrat Pocahontas spreads disinformation and propaganda that Musk doesn’t pay his fair, Musk pays more federal taxes in one year than Pocahontas will ever pay in her lifetime. Musk gets ahead the honest way, which is more than one can say about Pocahontas. Everyone is to blame for the inflation, from Bezos, to Musk, to Putin and the Ukraine war.. Everyone is to blame except Lying Corrupt Quid Pro KING Joe. Corrupt Quid Pro should try looking in the mirror sometimes, if the mirror doesn’t break. It’s because of corrupt Quid pro’s piss poor Domestic polices that have America in this situation. Bezos, Musk, and Putin, or the Ukraine war, isn’t out to Kill Big Oil and neither did they kill the Keystone Pipeline, Corrupt Quid Pro did. Bezos, Musk, and Putin aren’t spending America’s tax money like a drunken sailor, and they are certainly not overprinting money. Since Bezos has a beef with Corrupt Quid Pro, I don’t know why, this is what Bezos voted for. Bezos voted for a buffoon for the W/H. Maybe next time around Bezos will think twice about giving his big bucks to the liberal commie Democrat campaign coffers, when they produce the likes of corrupt Quid Pro.

Well this is Great. So the rich will have to pay taxes? I am glad bidie boy and piglosi and all the other ultra rich in government will be paying taxes without the usual way of getting around not paying taxes. But I will believe it when I see it. Every body else will be paying more taxes while they will be exempt.

This “ pay their fair share” b.s. was started by Obama! Yet, does HE, the biden’s, Piglosi, Schumer and all the rest pay their fair share? HELL NO! They have so many ways of not paying taxes at all, it isn’t funny! They hide income, stock trades, assets, and everything they can to pay less taxes, while the rest of us pay MORE than our fair share! Audit those A- holes, you will see i’m Correct! THEY need to pay up!!!!!!
