Fast Food $24 Receipt Sparks Inflation Debate Under Biden Administration
Clear Facts
- A $24 receipt from a Five Guys restaurant has sparked a social media uproar, highlighting the ongoing issue of high inflation under the Biden administration.
- The receipt, which included a bacon cheeseburger, a regular soda, and a small portion of fries, was posted by a user named Wall Street Silver on an X account, garnering over 25.2 million views.
- Many fast food chains have raised their prices in response to inflation, which peaked at 9%, with food items such as beef and steak seeing increases of over 7% and 10% respectively.
A $24 receipt from a Five Guys restaurant has recently become a topic of heated discussion on social media. This controversy is the latest example of how the high inflation rates under the Biden administration are impacting everyday Americans.
The receipt was posted on an X account by a user named Wall Street Silver, who claimed to have sourced it from Reddit. “Five Guys prices are out of control,” the X user wrote. “$24 for one person.”
The receipt detailed a bacon cheeseburger priced at $12.49, a regular soda for $2.89, and a small portion of fries costing $5.19. With tax, the order total came to $21.91, and a $2.19 tip brought the grand total to a hefty $24.10.
This post has since been viewed over 25.2 million times, sparking a debate about the pricing at the popular fast food chain. Wall Street Silver commented on X, “I guess I was expecting about $12 to $15 per person for Five Guys. $22 (without tip) just seems to cross a line. What is the right amount these days?”
Inflation has led many fast food restaurants to increase their prices, with inflation rates peaking at over 9%. Despite a decrease in top line inflation, the prices of many food items remain high. According to the latest reading of the consumer price index, beef prices have risen by over 7% and steak by over 10%.
Chick-fil-A has seen a 21% price increase since early 2022, and Domino’s Pizza CFO Sandeep Reddy recently announced plans for a “modest price increase in the low-single digits.”
Many X users agreed with Wall Street Silver’s sentiment and criticized Five Guys’ pricing. “5 dollars for a small fry is highway robbery,” one commentator wrote. “It’s literally just a potato and some salt. Cost them a quarter to make.”
However, not all social media users were taken aback by the price. “Five Guys has always been more premium than others, though,” user Ian Miles Cheong wrote. Another commentator added, “Five guys was always overpriced. Same meal was $15 ten years ago.”
Fox Business reached out to Five Guys for comment on the controversy, but has yet to receive a response.
Clear Thoughts (op-ed)
The viral $24 Five Guys receipt serves as a glaring reminder of the Biden administration’s failure to control inflation. Everyday Americans are feeling the pinch as fast food chains, once a bastion of affordability, are forced to raise prices.
The staggering 25.2 million views on this post indicate that this issue resonates with the public, who are growing increasingly frustrated with the administration’s economic mismanagement.
Inflation rates have reached alarming levels, and while they may have peaked, the lingering effects continue to burden consumers. The fact that a once-affordable meal now costs nearly double what it did a decade ago is a testament to the financial strain many Americans face.
As more fast food chains follow suit, raising prices to cope with inflation, the Biden administration must take decisive action to address this pressing issue. Until then, the public’s outcry will only grow louder.

I guess this is what happens when workers get paid fifteen bucks an hour for flipping burgers.

Or even up to $20, in a dem state I know too well! We stopped getting fast food! It used to be a cheap quick option! For the easy meals now, we do lean cuisine on sale, or banquet pot pies, and also saves on expensive gas! Thanks democrats!

But not for his billionaire buddy of Panerai bread that doesn’t have to pay it. And just like the Marxist D.C. cabal that want to destroy our country.and the worst is yet to come. Wake up america.

There is no inflation,,,,Just ask a democrat and they will lie right to your face just like Biden. I can’t believe Biden would even get 45% in polls for re-election. This just shows me how many simpletons are now in this country who believes anything Biden says. And now Biden has imported 10 to 15 million democrat voters who will vote for Biden in return for all our tax tax money buying them food, shelter, cell phones, and health care, while we pay for both ours and theirs. What a terrible transformation our country is going through under Obama and Biden. So Sad, and I haven’t even mentioned muslims pouring into this country to eventually change our constitution to their sharia law. So Sad, letting in all the wrong people…

The truth of inflation is that it has doubled the food and energy, and the one group that is never spoken of is the people retired that won’t be getting raises from their 401K’s. Won’t be able to afford the inflation! It is as if we are already dead!😵

All the Democrat campaign speeches go out the window when a person goes to a restaurant or grocery store.
Democrats can’t hid that anymore. Even the gulliberals are beginning to understand.

This should be proof enough that Congress and the Senate are not working in our best interests. All of this is a result of the America last mentality spending our tax dollars on other countries wars and sending our manufacturing to other countries. The Biden administration claims everything is wonderful and the economy is back and kicking into high gear. McDonalds used to have a commercial “.47 cents for a 3-course meal.” .47 cents got you a hamburger, fries and a drink so let that sink in and thank the politicians that tell us they are working for the American people.

I can understand raising the price a little to make up for inflation but it seems like everyone else is getting richer also but I don’t understand why they are downsizing everything and still raising prices. Its unbelievable how much they have raised prices. There is no reason for them to be charging what they are doing.I mean a candy bar used to be maybe a dollar and now it is2.80.This is ridiculous!!!!

The inflation is much more the result of Corporate Greed. Would you like the Biden administration to put “price controls “ into effect? They had to do it during the 2nd World War.

Try putting the blame on the right place. Corporate Greed. At this point President Biden and the Democrats have little or nothing to do with the inflation we are struggling with.I guess you won’t be voting for The Orange Idiot and his Republican cohorts then. Get real, what we are struggling with more than anything is Cowboy Reagan, who did away with the “truth in broadcasting doctrine!
