“Is She Crazy?”: AOC Faces Backlash Over Inflation “Propaganda” Remarks

Clear Facts:
- Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez faces criticism from her constituents in New York’s 14th district for sharing a video labeling concerns about inflation as “propaganda.”
- The video, from a left-leaning New Zealand group, argues that “greedy shareholders” and not inflation are to blame for rising prices, a viewpoint that many of her constituents vehemently disagree with.
- Several residents expressed their hardships due to inflation, with one saying she had to work two jobs to survive, while others feel AOC doesn’t represent their values and should not be in Congress.
New York’s 14th district residents have expressed severe disappointment in their representative, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, following her decision to share a video labeling concerns about inflation as mere “propaganda.”
The video in question, originating from the left-leaning New Zealand group Aotearoa Liberation League, argued that the narrative around inflation is merely a ruse by “greedy shareholders” to mask their profiteering motives.
It stated, “The price of everything keeps going up; meanwhile, the corporations selling those things are making massive profits.”
Further, the video emphasized that “The propaganda around inflation and cost of living is so powerful that we forget the very basic fact that corporations set the prices for their products. If a corporation raises its prices and then makes record profits, that’s not some invisible monster. It’s just a bunch of greedy shareholders.”
However, this perspective didn’t sit well with many of Ocasio-Cortez’s constituents. Several residents voiced their displeasure to The New York Post, taking issue with AOC’s insinuation that inflation worries are mere “propaganda.”
One certified nursing assistant, a 41-year-old single mother of three, passionately retorted, “Is AOC crazy? Has she been to a grocery store recently? $1,000 ain’t nothing no more. $100 ain’t nothing no more. Maybe she should spend some time in the projects and really help people.”
She added, “I’m working two jobs just to survive. I kill myself just to feed my family. It’s much worse now than it was before the pandemic.”
Another constituent, a retired Hispanic schoolteacher from the Bronx, criticized Ocasio-Cortez for not truly representing the community’s values.
“AOC does not represent true Hispanic beliefs or values,” she stated. “Puerto Ricans have traditional family values which she does not represent. And for her to act as if inflation being something other than the government’s fault? Well since I don’t have someone to pay for my $30,000 dress for a gala like she did, it’s much easier for me to see the truth.”
She was stern in her conclusion: “AOC should not be in Congress. She’s not helping us, she’s hurting us with her rhetoric and her policies.”
In similar sentiments, a 55-year-old man spoke about the hardships he faced, saying, “I had to cash in my 401K. The last few years have been very rough. You go in a store with $100 and it buys almost nothing. I don’t understand why (AOC) isn’t taking this more seriously.”
The collective voices of these constituents illuminate a broader sense of frustration and disillusionment felt by many in the district, prompting questions about the disconnect between the representative’s public actions and the real-world consequences her constituents face.

AOC needs to do some reading. The average household in the US is now paying $2,400 more per year for energy than it did before Biden took office. That’s because of the Biden energy policies. Then, add Joe’s inflationary impact on top of that all caused by his runaway spending. No wonder people think they are worse off now than when Trump held office. Our economic woes today are entirely the fault of the Biden administration and its pandering to “greenie” representatives like AOC. She’ll do anything she needs to to deflect attention directed toward her and that includes lying through her teeth. Amazing how she maintains a straight face while preaching what she preaches!

It all narrows down to the voters. What they vote for is what they’ll get. If she truly doesn’t represent the people, then the voters need to change who they vote for.
