Jon Stewart, the well-known host from Comedy Central, found himself at a loss for words when confronted with the complexities of President Biden’s rural broadband initiative. The plan, which has a hefty price tag of $40 billion, has yet to see a single project commence, despite being part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law signed in 2021.
The cumbersome 14-step process required for states to access these funds was explained in detail, highlighting the challenges involved. As the steps were outlined, Stewart’s disbelief grew, culminating in an exclamation of, “Oh my fucking God,” when reaching step 12, which involves states running a competitive sub-granting process.
It was noted that only 30 out of 56 applicants had completed this step, and just three jurisdictions had made it to step 13. Stewart, clearly taken aback, remarked, “I’m speechless, honestly, like it’s, uh, far worse than I could have imagined. But the fact that they amputated their own legs on this is what’s so stunning.”
The initiative is laden with regulatory hurdles, including mandates for participating internet service providers to engage in environmental initiatives and employ union workers. These requirements are meticulously outlined in a 98-page document.
This isn’t the first time the administration has faced criticism for its infrastructure spending. A separate program allocated over $7 billion for electric vehicle chargers but managed to install only seven by April 2024. Such inefficiencies raise questions about the effectiveness of these large-scale government projects.

It’s a good thing that Stewart, a huge liberal, actually gets to see what a liberal administration is all about;
feckless, useless, incompetent piss ants. This is what the past four years under a dementia ridden criminal mastermind is what we got from Obama running the country for another however illegal term. Besides going on vacations continuously all Joe did was extort money from foreign governments and people. What Joe and his evil spawn did was criminal and should be treated for what is was. The entire Bidumb crime family and the administration should all be in prison right now.

Bravo! Unfortunately, you speak the truth. Biden and his cronies and criminal enterprise set us back and did a lot of damage. I think they put impossible regulatory hurdles up, probably knowing the intended recipients will never realize one penny. Then, what happens to all that unspent money?
