The Quality ‘Learing’ Center in Minneapolis closed its doors this week following a formal license termination request, according to state licensing records.
State officials confirmed the center cannot operate again unless it reapplies for a new license.
“The provider is unable to reopen without reapplying for a license,” the agency stated.
Inspectors conducted a review of the center in June, finding multiple operational violations but reporting no fraud at that time.
The closure followed a widely shared YouTube video by Nick Shirley that alleged several Minnesota daycare centers collected public funds without providing services.
The Quality ‘Learing’ Center appeared in Shirley’s video after he filmed its sign, which was later corrected due to a misspelling.
State records show 95 regulatory violations at the center from 2019 to 2023.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Joe Thompson reported that suspected fraud in Minnesota’s Medicaid program has exceeded $9 billion.
Some state employees accused Governor Tim Walz’s administration of retaliating against whistleblowers amid federal investigations.
