Authorities in Texas arrested a former substitute teacher following disturbing reports of an improper relationship with a student.
The investigation began after school district officials flagged the behavior to law enforcement on Tuesday.
Angela Palmares, age 27, now faces a second-degree felony charge.
Records indicate she was apprehended in Bell County through a collaborative effort between local deputies and the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Superintendent Mac Edwards noted the individual engaged in inappropriate communication with students via social media.
The district immediately removed her from the active substitute list following these discoveries.
“The district takes all allegations of this nature extremely seriously and remains committed to providing a safe and supportive environment to students,” Edwards stated in a letter to local families.
“At this time, we are unable to provide additional details due to personnel and student privacy considerations,” he added regarding the ongoing situation.
The Llano County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information from any other potential victims as the criminal investigation remains active.
Palmares had not worked for the school district since early April.
