Former U.S. national security adviser, John Bolton, has some things to say against President Donald Trump as some quotes from his book discussed the time he worked with the current administration.
In the book, Bolton seemingly described Trump as a strikingly ignorant executive, and an underperformer in the post he was elected to do.
The said excerpts were reportedly confirmed by at least three newspapers that got advanced copies of the book.
The White House made efforts to stop publication of the book, The Room Where It Happened: A White House Memoir, by filing a lawsuit this week against its author, Bolton.
The move, however, backfired, as the Trump administration has somehow helped uplift the book, making it on the top of bestsellers in the country even it’s to be published yet on June 23.
Passages from the book were reported on Tuesday by three newspaper outlets, the New York Times, the Washington Post, and The Wall Street Journal. The quotes contained some astonishing revelations.
The first surprise was about Trump seeking help from President Xi of China about his reelection bid.
According to Bolton, who quit from the administration from last September, Trump capitalized on the fact that the Democrats was hostile against China, suggesting Xi that his country would benefit more in trade if the president gets reelected.
Trump also reportedly told Xi he gave a green light in constructing the Chinese concentration camps for Muslim Uighur minorities.
Another bombshell discussed by Bolton is about Trump allegedly said U.S. journalists who do not disclose their news resources should be executed. The president reportedly complained during a July 2019 meeting about how the media covers him, saying that those journalists are scumbags.
A citation wrote by the New York Times tells about an incident during the 2018 meeting between Trump and North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un. Bolton recounted that Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, allegedly gave him a note saying the U.S. president is ridiculous.
Bolton further claimed that other Trump staff members secretly mocked the president, including former chief of staff John Kelly, who allegedly told him that he’s anxious to leave the post.
The Times, meanwhile, published an excerpt from Bolton’s book discussing how the Democrats failed in impeaching Trump by focusing only on the Ukraine issue.
Bolton commented the opposition should have also stretched their probing on other offences made by Trump, including the inappropriate participation on behalf of authoritarian governments such as Turkey and China.
Bolton added that should the House expanded beyond Ukraine; they might have revealed other aspects of Trump’s ignorance on what is a personal interest and what is not.
During the impeachment investigation, however, Bolton has reportedly declined to testify against Trump.
