Kermit Gosnell, the former doctor convicted of murdering children outside the womb, reportedly passed away in a Pennsylvania correctional facility in early March.

Journalists following his legal case confirmed the 85-year-old’s death with prison and law enforcement sources.

The Philadelphia abortion clinic operated by Gosnell for 30 years was described as a filthy environment where thousands of infants were allegedly killed.

While a grand jury initially sought to charge him with 200 murders, political pressure reportedly reduced that number to seven before his ultimate conviction.

“He was a chilling monster who could sometimes come across as charming,” journalist Ann McElhinney stated regarding the former physician.

She noted that Gosnell often targeted poor women and minority populations throughout his decades of operation.

During the 2013 trial, evidence revealed that Gosnell used scissors to cut the spinal cords of babies born alive following failed abortion attempts.

A judge spared him the death penalty but sentenced him to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Investigative reports indicated that one baby boy survived outside the womb for an hour before being killed, a case that shocked clinic aides.

Prosecutors also linked Gosnell to the involuntary manslaughter of a female patient who died from a sedative overdose at his facility.

“May God have mercy on his soul, but his soul was filled with evil, so there may be no mercy for him, like there was no mercy for the babies,” Detective Jim Wood said.

Wood served as the lead investigator during the original criminal probe into the clinic.
