Records indicate that investigators shredded and disposed of bags of documents from the prison where Jeffrey Epstein died in August 2019.

Staff at the Metropolitan Correctional Center (MCC) reportedly told the FBI that an unusual amount of paperwork was destroyed during the probe.

One correctional officer reported seeing five bags of shredded documents being thrown into a dumpster only days after the death.

He said he had never seen such a large volume of shredded material leaving the facility.

Another officer expressed concern in a memo to federal investigators regarding the destruction of records by the After Action Team.

“I believe that this conduct may be inappropriate for an investigative team to be shredding paperwork related to the investigation, and you may want to investigate why BOP employees are destroying records,” he wrote.

A federal agent requested an immediate search of the dumpster to recover the paper, but the trash had already been collected.

The inmate allegedly used to transport the bags later claimed he had no knowledge of what was being disposed of during his runs.

The inmate reportedly told a guard that the team was “shredding everything back there” during the late-night disposal of documents.

Despite these reports, an FBI memo later claimed there was no evidence to support the complaints of record destruction.

The investigation did confirm that crucial institutional count slips from the facility were missing from the records.

Two officers on duty when Epstein died also claimed they had no information regarding his missing MCC file.

An official review eventually ruled the death a suicide based on limited staff conversations and redacted documentation.

The Bureau of Prisons and the FBI have not clarified why certain documents vanished during the federal inquiry.
