  • Nicolas Cage’s $10.5 million Malibu beachfront property sustained damage from coastal erosion following September’s Hurricane Marie.
  • The actor clarified his earlier “a little bit homeless” remark at Comic Con, stating his words were taken out of context.
  • More than 30 homes on a private Malibu road received evacuation notices due to safety concerns over emergency access.

Nicolas Cage addressed recent remarks about his living situation after coastal erosion damaged his Malibu beachfront home. The actor spoke to the Associated Press to provide clarity following his weekend comments at Comic Con.

Cage explained that his earlier statement about being “a little bit homeless” came during casual conversation about Halloween plans. He emphasized that his comments were not meant to suggest any financial hardship.

“I went to Comic Con and I was riffing with a very good interviewer and he just had to ask, because it was Halloween night, ‘What are you doing for Halloween?'” he said.

“Now, when I said that, I meant my house is not available for trick or treaters.”

The 62-year-old actor described his current living arrangements as temporary hotel stays while repairs are addressed at his property. He stressed that his family is not facing any hardship.

“Now, I have to watch my words so much to the letter. We’re content. We’re fine. We’re not destitute. We’re okay.”

“I was just meaning that the house is not available for decorations and for candy to hand out to the children, which I like to do because I like Halloween.”

The damage to Cage’s 4,000-square-foot home occurred after Hurricane Marie generated massive Pacific waves and elevated tides in September. Evacuation orders affected over 30 homes along a private Malibu road due to compromised emergency vehicle access.

Cage purchased the beachfront property in 2024 for $10.5 million. He indicated plans to take his four-year-old daughter trick-or-treating in nearby Santa Monica while the Malibu home remains unavailable.
