The reactions to the shocking shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner are coming in, but UFC boss Dana White’s response stands out from the rest.

White, a close friend of President Trump, was invited to the prestigious event. He was even interviewed on the red carpet beforehand, discussing the upcoming UFC Freedom 250 scheduled to take place at the White House on June 14.

The evening took a dangerous turn when a gunman stormed a security checkpoint and shot a Secret Service agent. Thankfully, the agent is expected to make a full recovery.

President Trump, the First Lady, Vice President JD Vance, and other Trump administration officials were immediately evacuated from the room. More than 2,000 guests in the Washington Hilton ballroom took cover under tables as Secret Service personnel secured the area.

Fortunately, no attendees were reported injured. Most guests were understandably shaken by the incident.

Dana White, however, had a very different reaction.

As guests filed out of the ballroom, White stopped to speak with reporters about what he witnessed. His account reveals the mindset of someone who refuses to be intimidated.

“It started getting noisy, tables started flipping over, guys running in with guns, and they were screaming ‘Get down.’ I didn’t get down. It was f–king awesome. I literally took every minute of it in, and it was a pretty crazy, unique experience.”

White was seated directly in front of the head table, where the President, Vice President, First Lady, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, and White House Correspondents’ Association members were positioned. This put him in the center of the Secret Service response.

“Guys came in looking for shooters. They came toward our table. I thought the shooter was over by us or something.”

White’s reaction demonstrates the fearless approach that has defined his leadership of the UFC. While others took cover, he chose to observe and process what was happening around him.

The incident raises serious questions about security protocols at high-profile White House events. With the President and Vice President in attendance, the fact that an armed individual was able to breach a checkpoint and discharge a weapon is deeply concerning.

The Secret Service agent who was shot is receiving treatment and is expected to survive. The swift action of security personnel prevented what could have been a far more serious situation.

This shooting marks another security incident at the Washington Hilton, the same location where President Ronald Reagan was shot in 1981. The historic hotel has hosted the White House Correspondents’ Dinner for decades, but this latest event will likely trigger renewed scrutiny of venue security measures.

Dana White’s unflinching response to the chaos reflects a mindset uncommon in today’s culture. Rather than panic, he chose to remain calm and aware of his surroundings. His reaction stands in stark contrast to the fear that gripped most of the room.

The UFC Freedom 250 event at the White House is still scheduled to proceed as planned on June 14, representing a historic first for mixed martial arts at America’s most famous residence.
