Former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has officially endorsed Joe Biden for US president on Tuesday.

Clinton, the first woman to become a major party’s presidential nominee, appeared as Biden’s “special guest” in a virtual town hall that discussed the pandemic’s impact on women.

The former Secretary of State declared her support for Biden while implicitly criticizing President Donald Trump’s handling of the pandemic.

Clinton remarked, “Just think of what a difference it would make right now if we had a president who not only listened to the science, put facts over fiction, but brought us together. Show the kind of compassion and caring that we need from our president, and which Joe Biden has been exemplifying throughout his entire life.”

“Think of what it would mean if we had a real president, not just somebody who plays one on TV,” she continued.

Clinton continued to praise Biden’s accomplishments as a former vice president and six-term senator, saying that he “has been preparing for this moment his entire life.”

Clinton concluded, “This is a moment when we need a leader, a president like Joe Biden.”

Clinton is the latest Democrat to rally behind the former vice president as he takes on Trump.

Biden received several significant endorsements in recent weeks. Former President Barack Obama, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Sens. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts and Bernie Sanders of Vermont, all declared their support.

Biden had become the presumptive nominee earlier this month after Sanders dropped out of the presidential race. Sanders’ decision ended the primary battle much earlier as compared to four years ago, when he continued the fight against Clinton until the end of the primary calendar.
