“Lock him up!” Supporters chant as Trump slams Biden’s family [Video]
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
- At his rally on Sunday, President Donald Trump criticized Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden and his son Hunter as supporters chant “lock him up” pertaining to the former vice president.
- Trump repeatedly brought up the issue of the alleged dealings of Biden with Ukraine officials to help his son escape a crime.
- The accusation was published by The New York Post and was shared by other social media outlets with a disclaimer on its veracity.
During President Donald Trump’s campaign rally on Sunday, supporters chanted “lock him up” as the president lambasted Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden and his son Hunter.
“They’re corrupt people. But Joe Biden is from a failed and corrupt political class,” Trump said, as he continuously pressed the allegations against the Bidens.
“Joe he’s corrupt. And you know what, they found the laptop. They call it the laptop from hell,” he continued. “Let’s see what happens with it.”
The accusation was published by the New York Post last week. It released stories on the alleged emails retrieved from Hunter’s laptop which was left at a Delaware repair shop. Those emails obtained information regarding the father and son’s activities in Ukraine.
Social media giants like Facebook and Twitter have censored the story while other media outlets put a disclaimer on its veracity, as the source of the report was considered a suspect.
The emails are being investigated by federal officials to determine whether those were linked to a foreign intelligence operation that attempted to interfere with the election.
The emails obtained one alleged meeting between the former vice president and Vadym Pozharsky, Burisma’s adviser, a Ukrainian gas company where Hunter had a stint. The Biden campaign has repeatedly denied that such meeting commenced.
“Lock him up” chants came following the president’s tirades against Biden’s alleged use of massive financial resources to remove a top Ukrainian prosecutor that would absolve his son.
The “lock him up” chant came when Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) became the subject of the same chant on Saturday. The catchphrase was coined in 2016 and was used then against former Secretary of State and First Lady Hillary Clinton.
