In a renewed clash with former President Donald Trump, Kentucky Representative Thomas Massie is pushing for transparency regarding the government’s files on Jeffrey Epstein. Massie has introduced a resolution that would compel Attorney General Pam Bondi to release all documents associated with Epstein and his alleged network of accomplices.

The move, dubbed “Phase 2 of the Epstein files,” seems to have struck a nerve with Trump. The former president took to social media to express his discontent, labeling Massie as “the worst Republican Congressman” and an “Embarrassment to Kentucky.”

Massie’s resolution aims to ensure that the Epstein records are not “withheld, delayed, or redacted on the basis of embarrassment or political sensitivity for U.S. or foreign officials.” It also mandates an “unclassified summary” of any classified or withheld material.

In response to Trump’s criticisms, Massie defended his actions and suggested that the attacks are a direct result of his efforts to release the Epstein files. “I introduced the only binding congressional legislation to release the Epstein files and already have 20 sponsors. In return, the attacks on me intensified,” Massie stated. He emphasized his determination by saying he is not “backing down” but “fighting,” and he encouraged supporters to contribute to his cause.

The tension between Massie and Trump is not new. Massie has previously opposed some of Trump’s initiatives, including the president’s “Big Beautiful Bill,” which he criticized for lacking federal spending cuts and increasing the national deficit. Trump has dismissed Massie as a “grandstander” and suggested he should be ousted from Congress.

Their disagreements extend beyond domestic policy. In June, Massie criticized the U.S. bombing of Iranian nuclear sites as “not constitutional,” further fueling the discord between the two Republicans.

In an earlier interview, Massie warned that any primary challenge against him could potentially backfire on Trump, highlighting the ongoing friction within the Republican ranks.
