QAnon supporters believe that former President Donald Trump gave them the biggest nod of approval on Saturday when an alleged QAnon song played during his speech.

Trump spoke at a rally in Youngstown, Ohio, to support Ohio Senate candidate JD Vance. A cinematic soundtrack played while the former president rehashed his complaints about “Fake News,” Hunter Biden’s laptop, and Russia’s war on Ukraine.

QAnon figures instantly recognized the song choice as Richard Feelgood’s “Wwg1wga,” which stands for “where we go one, we go all.” Several attendees of the rally raised their index fingers to the sky in an unusual salute.

Footage of the rally was shared on a Twitter thread by journalist Aaron Rupar, who described it as “very cult-like.”

Alex Kaplan, a senior researcher for US-based media watchdog Media Matters, tweeted on Saturday, “QAnon figures are claiming the use of the song brings some kind of legitimacy for them.”

Trump previously used the same audio in a video he posted last month on Truth Social. QAnon followers celebrated the use of the song at the time and called it “the biggest nod they’ve ever given us” and “THE mother of all Q proofs.”

But Trump’s spokesperson, Taylor Budowich, told Vice News at the time that the song used was not Feelgood’s, but a song called “Mirrors” by TV and film composer Will Van De Crommert.

When Media Matters reviewed the song using Apple’s Shazam app and Google’s voice assistant, it was identified as “Wwg1wga.” They added that both songs had “virtually identical” audio profiles when analyzed using the audio editing software Audacity.

The crowd’s finger salute brought confusion to Trump supporters and analysts.

Will Sommer, author of an upcoming book on QAnon, and NBC News reporter Ben Collins both tweeted about the contention on the finger salute’s meaning. While others called it a QAnon salute that uses 1 finger to symbolize “Where We Go 1 We Go All,” others thought it symbolized “America First.”

Both said they’d never seen such a gesture before.

According to an AP report, Trump has gone from simple “winking” at QAnon to open support.

In the past month, nearly a third of the 75 accounts Trump reposted on Truth Social had promoted QAnon, AP reported.

On Tuesday, Trump reposted an image of himself wearing a Q pin on his jacket. The text overlay read, “The Storm is Coming.” QAnon has been heralding a “storm” that will feature Trump’s violent retribution against his enemies.
