An image that has recently surfaced online reveals family members of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, who is also the vice-presidential candidate, openly endorsing former President Trump.
This photograph, shared by former Nebraska Republican gubernatorial candidate Charles Herbster, features eight individuals donning “Nebraska Walz’s (sic) for Trump” T-shirts.
“Tim Walz’s family back in Nebraska wants you to know something…” Herbster wrote on X.
Herbster’s representative informed that these individuals are related to Governor Walz through his grandfather’s brother, Francis Walz.
The family members described themselves as “distant” from Governor Walz and mentioned that they have never met or spoken with him.
One anonymous person in the photo stated their support for Trump because “he supports our values.”
Former President Trump responded to the image on Truth Social, suggesting that he intends to “meet” with Jeff Walz, the governor’s older brother.
Jeff Walz has been vocal about his opposition to his brother’s political stance.
“I’m 100% opposed to all his ideology,” Jeff posted on Facebook, referring to Governor Walz.
He further expressed his frustration, saying, “My family wasn’t given any notice thst [sic] he was selected and denied security the days after.”
A Trump supporter encouraged Jeff to “Help MAGA… Get on stage with President Trump and endorse him…; Help save this country….”
Jeff responded, “I’ve thought hard about doing something like that! I’m torn between that and just keeping my family out of it.”
Governor Walz has three siblings: Jeff Walz, Craig Walz, and Sandy Dietrich.
Jeff, who now resides in Florida after growing up in rural Nebraska, also shared his feelings about learning of his brother’s vice-presidential candidacy through the media.
“The only thing I took exception to, and I will stand behind this 100%, was that we felt bad that we found out about his being picked as the vice presidential candidate from radio,” Jeff said.
He added, “And we felt like we probably should have been given a heads-up and some type of security, at least for a short time, because I guess that is a big thing.”
