Trump on launching a new party: ‘Fake News’ [Video]

• Trump said that he commits himself fully to the GOP and expressed his intention of running again as president.

During his address at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) on Sunday, former President Donald Trump said that he would not launch a new political party amid speculations that he would.

“We’re not starting new parties. You know — they kept saying, ‘He’s going to start a brand new party.’ We have the Republican Party. It’s going to unite and be stronger than ever before,” Trump said.

Trump’s Sunday speech marked his full commitment to staying with the GOP as his co-Republicans would seem to welcome him again.

“I am not starting a new party,” the former president noted. “That was fake news. Fake news, no. Wouldn’t that be brilliant? Let’s start a new party and let’s divide our vote so that you can never win. No, we’re not interested in that.”

The ex-president also talked about his significant straw poll numbers, where he got 55 percent followed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in far second at 21 percent.

In the straw poll, Trump got an approval rating of 97 percent. About 87 percent gave him a satisfactory rating as president, while over 68 percent in the straw poll at CPAC said that Trump should make another election run to the White House.

During his address, Trump also said that the Republican party will go head-to-head with the left as the Democrats took the stronghold of the legislative and the executive house.

“For the next four years, the brave Republicans in this room will be at the heart of the effort to oppose the radical Democrats, the fake news media, and their toxic cancel culture,” he said. “And I want you to know that I am going to continue to fight right by your side. We will do what we have done right from the beginning which is to win.”

Trump also denounced Biden’s immigration and school reopening policies, while also expressing interest in running for reelection and claiming (again and again) that he got cheated in the last November election.

With the infamous January 6 US Capitol siege initiated by pro-Trump mob, speculations arose that he might lead a new party since many Republicans denounced him for inciting the violence. His fellow party mates criticized him for not making any quick effort to stop the mob when the riot already began and resulted in five deaths including one Capitol police.

The damage, though, eventually diminished as only a few Republican House members and Senators voted in favor of Trump’s impeachment for his involvement in the Capitol assault.
