Biden: Trump should be prohibited from getting intelligence briefings [Video]

In his first exclusive interview as US President, Joe Biden told CBS Evening News anchor Norah O’Donnell that former President Donald Trump should not receive briefings because of his “erratic behavior.”

Even though intelligence briefings are usually being given to former presidents, Biden thought that Trump should be barred from getting the briefings due to his unpredictable behavior.

At one point during the interview, O’Donnell said: “You’ve called him an existential threat. You’ve called him dangerous. You’ve called him reckless,” to which the president said: “Yeah, I have. And I believe it.”

When asked what would be his worst fear if the former president continues to obtain classified information, Biden said: “I’d rather not speculate out loud. I just think that there is no need for him to have the – the intelligence briefings. What value is giving him an intelligence briefing? What impact does he have at all, other than the fact he might slip and say something?”

Biden did not provide a straight answer whether Trump was deserving to be impeached as his case is set to begin on Tuesday at the Senate. Last month, the House impeached him for the second time for inciting the violence in the US Capitol on January 6.

“I ran like hell to defeat him because I thought he was unfit to be president. I’ve watched what everybody else watched, what happened when that– that crew invaded the United States Congress. But– I’m not in the Senate now. I’ll let the Senate make that decision,” he said.

During the interview, the president also discussed some details regarding the $1,400 proposed stimulus payments of the COVID-19 relief aid.

“It’s somewhere between an individual making up to $75,000 and phasing out, and a couple making up to $150,000 and then phasing out,” he said, noting that the proposal is still being finalized.

O’Donnell’s interview with Biden will be airing on Face the Nation on Sunday at 4 pm before the Super Bowl LV coverage.
