Kirk was reportedly standing at a “Prove Me Wrong” table when he was shot. He was transported to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries. According to law enforcement, the suspect remained at large following the deadly attack.

President Donald Trump posted his condolences on Truth Social, confirming Kirk’s death. Tickets for the tour had been offered free to both students and the public, and additional dates had been scheduled at other universities, with more events in planning stages.

The tour, previously held in states including Florida, Illinois, Texas, and Wyoming, aimed to equip young Americans to challenge left-wing narratives dominant in academia. Organizers emphasized its mission to “reclaim their right to free speech” within U.S. colleges.

“More than just a celebration of conservative momentum, this tour is a direct response to those trying to silence dissenting voices,” a press release stated.

“The American comeback is powerful and real, and it’s sweeping the nation,” Kirk declared in a February statement.

He added, “However, one of the last strongholds of far-left, increasingly insane and out-of-touch ideologues is found inside the formerly hallowed halls of higher education. We have many of these purveyors of anti-American indoctrination on the run, but when they regroup, they will do so from inside the academy. So we will take the fight to them.”

Kirk was also scheduled to host the annual “AmericaFest” conference in December in Phoenix, Arizona, underlining his ongoing work to energize the conservative base even in challenging environments.
