  • Heidi Gardner is leaving ‘Saturday Night Live’ as confirmed ahead of Season 51.
  • She was the longest-serving current female cast member, having joined in Season 43 and promoted in 2019.
  • Gardner becomes the fourth comedian to exit this week amid a large cast shakeup.

Heidi Gardner, age 42, will no longer be a part of ‘Saturday Night Live,’ marking a significant cast change as the show prepares for Season 51.

Gardner started her run on SNL in Season 43 and was brought up to the main cast in 2019, making her the most experienced woman on the roster last season.

Her popular “Weekend Update” characters included Bailey Gismert and Angel, earning praise from fans and viewers alike.

One standout moment was Gardner’s portrayal of NewsNation host Bobbi More during a widely shared sketch last year.

This week, Michael Longfellow, Emil Wakim, and Devon Walker also announced departures, following Lorne Michaels’ signals of big changes to come.

Gardner has branched into other television roles, including a part in ‘Shrinking’ alongside Harrison Ford and Jason Segel, as well as appearances in ‘You,’ ‘Girls5eva,’ and ‘Hustle.’

Earlier this year, Gardner said on Craig Ferguson’s podcast, “I will say the only thing that I’ve started to feel a little bit is just sketch fatigue, or idea fatigue.”

She further explained, “At this point, after doing Groundlings and SNL for so long, I’m like, ‘I’ve written a lot of sketches.’”

Michael Longfellow also left the show after joining in 2022, along with Walker and Wakim, illustrating the broader cast overhaul underway.

Devon Walker shared, “Me and the show did three years together, and sometimes it was really cool.”

Walker continued, “Sometimes it was toxic as hell. But we … made the most of what it was, even amidst all of the dysfunction. We made a f–ked up lil family.”

Emil Wakim, after one season, reflected: “It was the most terrifying, thrilling, and rewarding experience of my life, and I will miss it dearly and all the brilliant people that work there that made it feel like a home.”

Certain writers, including Celeste Yim and Rosebud Baker, are also moving on this season.

America has watched as SNL continues to change, with Lorne Michaels standing by his intent to revamp the show’s dynamic cast and creative team.
