WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • According to a CNN report, President Donald Trump’s White House inner circle have asked him to concede to President-elect Joe Biden.
  • First Lady Melania Trump and Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner reportedly told the president to surrender.
  • Trump’s campaign spokesman Jason Miller rebuked the report, saying that Kusher has advised Trump to seek legal action.

After falsely claiming that he won his reelection bid while voting is still ongoing last week, President Donald Trump would unlikely concede to apparent President-elect Joe Biden. Based on reports, some of Trump’s inner circle have asked him to wave the white flag.

CNN’s Shimon Prokupecz reported that even FLOTUS asked Trump to surrender.

“First Lady Melania Trump has joined the growing chorus of President Trump’s inner circle advising him the time has come for him to accept the loss, a source familiar with the conversations tells CNN,” Prokupecz wrote on Twitter.

According to a source cited by CNN, Melania asked her husband to admit his defeat. “She has offered [her opinion], as she often does,” the insider shared with the news agency.

Melania, though, shared her opinion about the election on Twitter, tweeting: “The American people deserve fair elections. Every legal – not illegal – vote should be counted. We must protect our democracy with complete transparency.”

CNN also claimed that the president’s son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner has suggested that he concede. Trump campaign spokesperson Jason Miller, however, said that the report was wrong.

“This story is not true,” Miller wrote on Sunday. “Given undetermined electoral outcomes in multiple states and serious voting irregularities and lack of transparency in others, Jared has advised @realDonaldTrump to pursue all available legal remedies to ensure accuracy,” Miller wrote on Twitter.

The New York Times reported, citing an anonymous White House official, that Kusher told the president to sough legal action. It is unclear, though, if it was Miller who confirmed the information.

According to the anonymous official who told the Times, Kushner would back Trump’s wish to bring the election results to the judiciary.

Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Guiliani has also advised the president to make a lawsuit. The majority of his advisers, however, acknowledged that his winning chances are very slim.
