WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • First lady Jill Biden made an unannounced visit to Ukraine on Sunday.
  • Biden had a meeting with Ukraine’s first lady on Mother’s Day.
  • The first lady is one of the highest-profile US officials to visit the country since the war started.

First lady Dr. Jill Biden made an unexpected visit to Ukraine on Sunday and met with the first lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska. The two women visited Ukrainian children who have been displaced because of the ongoing war with Russia.

FLOTUS started her trip to Eastern Europe on Thursday. She crossed the Slovakia–Ukraine border on Sunday afternoon for the surprise visit to the displaced children in Uzhhorod. The public school there served as a temporary shelter, housing 163 Ukrainians, including 47 children.

Biden was greeted by Zelenska, according to a U.S. official, who said the two first ladies have exchanged correspondence over the last few weeks. Zelenska has not been seen in public since Russia started the attack on Ukraine on February 24

“I wanted to come on Mother’s Day,” Biden told reporters traveling with her. “We thought it was important to show the Ukrainian people that this war has to stop, and this war has been brutal, and that the people of the United States stand with the people of Ukraine.”

Zelenska praised Jill Biden’s visit, calling it a “very courageous act.”

“Because we understand what it takes for the U.S. first lady to come here during a war when the military actions are taking place every day, where the air sirens are happening every day, even today,” Zelenska said.

“We all feel your support and we all feel the leadership of the U.S. president, but we would like to note that [the] Mother’s Day is a very symbolic day for us because we also feel your love and support during such an important day,” the Ukrainian first lady said.

Following a nearly 30-minute private bilateral meeting, Biden and Zeleska met with displaced Ukrainians and joined children who were making bears out of cardboard and tissue paper for their mothers.

FLOTUS spent roughly two hours in Ukraine before returning to Slovakia. Biden’s press secretary, Michael LaRosa, said the first lady spoke with President Joe Biden after the visit.

President Biden has not visited Ukraine, though he made a trip to Eastern Europe in March.

Why should “Dr. Jill” make such a dangerous visit on Mother’s Day? What with her ‘holier than thou’ attitude towards people ‘below’ her?

She is SOOO condescending it makes me sick! (Remember “…say me pahd-way?)

Lying Corrupt Quid Pro KING Joe sends Jill to Ukraine, because Corrupt Quid Pro is a coward. Corrupt Quid Pro is a coward. Corrupt Quid pro doesn’t want to go back to the scene of the crime. Besides Communist China, corrupt Quid Pro made a lot of money under the table from Ukraine. Under Corrupt Quid Pro’s breath, he is probably cheering on Russia. If Russia wins, all that bad information on Corrupt Quid Pro and a few other corrupt bureaucrats, will disappear. I am surprised jill didn’t come under sniper fire like Hillary Clinton.
