Broadway Star Falls Victim To Armed Robbery in Dunkin’ Donuts

John Cardoza, famous for his portrayal in the play ‘Notebook,’ recounted a distressing experience of his afternoon at a local Dunkin’ Donuts shop in Harlem. The actor explained that he was cornered by a middle-aged man asking for a dollar as he enjoyed his meal around 2 p.m.

“I offered to buy him lunch because I didn’t have cash on me, and things rapidly escalated from there,” Cardoza wrote on Instagram.

The man, who had his hand hidden in his pocket, threatened Cardoza, warning, “I have a gun.” Sharing the ordeal on social media, Cardoza expressed his sorrow, stating that even though he didn’t lose anything irreplaceable, the incident left him deeply saddened.

“Ultimately, he didn’t make off with anything irreplaceable. It’s disheartening to imagine people being this desperate – and it makes me sad to feel a need to alert anyone to this kind of activity,” Cardoza expressed on his social media platform.

Following the incident, the perpetrator hurriedly fled the scene, getting away with Cardoza’s wallet containing some personal items and a small amount of cash. At the time of reporting, the culprit remains at large.

Cardoza reflected on the current state of society in a follow-up message on Instagram, stating, “this is the world we’re living in.” He further warned his followers to be more vigilant, as the pleasant weather will witness more people venturing out.

“And if you’re like me, you already are careful and don’t think it’s going to happen to you until it’s staring you in the face. So please be vigilant as the weather warms up and more people are out and about,” Cardoza advised.

In an eerie coincidence, on the very same day, another actor, Michael Stuhlberg of “Boardwalk Empire,” was assaulted in Central Park. The New York City Police Department confirmed that Stuhlberg was hit in the back of the neck with a rock.

“A preliminary investigation determined that a 27-year-old male threw a rock, striking the victim in the back of the neck, causing an abrasion,” an NYPD spokesperson shared in an email statement. The suspect was subsequently arrested without any incident and the actor refused medical attention.

The alleged attacker, Xavier Israel, was presented before the court on assault charges and was later released on bail. He is slated to appear in court on April 5. These incidents highlight the urgent need for increased vigilance and safety measures in public spaces.
