Cohen: Trump’s a racist ‘cult leader’ [Video]

  • Michael Cohen, President Donald Trump’s former attorney, called the president a racist “cult leader” in his new book entitled “Disloyal, a Memoir.”
  • He stated that Trump’s allies have continued to defend his “indefensible” actions, just like cult members blindly follow their leader.
  • He then urged the president to resign now before he faces potential criminal charges.

Michael Cohen, who was often referred to by the media as President Donald Trump’s ex-fixer, described his former boss as a racist “cult leader” in an exclusive interview with NBC News.

Cohen detailed how it was like to work as an attorney for Trump in his new book entitled “Disloyal, a Memoir,” which is set to be released on Tuesday.

Cohen told host Lester Holt, “In the book, obviously, I describe Mr. Trump as a cult leader, and I was in this cult.”

He explained that the book was meant as a message “from one former cult member to the current ones.”

“I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: open your eyes as I have,” he implored. “And I want you to appreciate that Donald Trump cares for no one or anything other than himself.”

Cohen referred to the recent report from The Atlantic, which claimed that Trump had referred to fallen soldiers as “losers” and “suckers.”

He then pointed out that administration officials and Trump allies have since backed his denial of the allegations, and continue to defend his “indefensible” actions.

Cohen remarked, “I mean, who could possibly accept this? But when you’re in the Trump cult, you have no choice but to accept it.”

He then listed several instances in which Trump made racist remarks. He recalled how Trump said, “Only the Blacks could live this way,” while they were driving through a predominantly Black Chicago neighborhood.

Cohen claimed that Trump’s particular “hatred” for former President Barack Obama stems from “the fact that he’s Black and that he was the first Black president in this country.”

The White House has called Cohen’s book a mere “fan fiction.”

White House deputy press secretary Brian Morgenstern pointed out, “He readily admits to lying routinely but expects people to believe him now so that he can make money from book sales.”

Cohen faced federal investigation in 2018. Trump’s longtime fixer then turned on his former boss when he gave a dramatic testimony before Congress. He was then convicted for financial crimes and lying to Congress and started his three-year prison sentence last year. He had declared that he has previously lied for the president’s benefit.

In July, he was released to serve the rest of his sentence from home during the pandemic.

The former attorney to Trump still offered some advice to the president: “Resign now, let Mike Pence pardon you from any and all potential crimes that will come out against you, and that would be my recommendation to you.”
