Critics Challenge WHO’s Biased Transgender Health Guidelines Development
Clear Facts
- A group of critics of gender ideology has initiated a petition against the World Health Organization’s (WHO) process of developing transgender health guidelines.
- The WHO’s proposed guidelines aim to increase “respectful health services” for trans-identifying and “gender diverse” individuals, with a focus on “gender-affirming care.”
- The petition, titled “WHO Decides?”, argues that the panel developing these guidelines is “highly biased,” with over three-fourths of its members being transgender activists, and lacking child development experts or detransitioners.
A group of critics of gender ideology has launched a petition against the World Health Organization’s (WHO) ongoing process to develop transgender health guidelines. The WHO announced its plan to advance new transgender guidelines on December 18, with several of its departments that deal with gender, equity, and sexual health collaborating on the guidelines.
These guidelines will advise on “health sector interventions” aimed at increasing “respectful health services” for trans-identifying and “gender diverse” people, according to the WHO.
The guidelines will focus on “gender-affirming care,” including hormones, health policies that support “gender-inclusive care,” health care for trans-identifying people who have suffered “interpersonal violence,” and legal recognition of self-determined gender identity.
The petition from gender ideology critics is titled “WHO Decides?” and states that the signers “strongly object” to the “highly biased” panel tasked with developing the guidelines.
The petitioners claim that more than three-fourths of the WHO panel’s 21 members are transgender activists, and the few physicians are either HIV specialists or “gender doctors.”
The petitioners also noted that the panel does not include any child development experts or detransitioners, people who transitioned but then regretted it.
“There is currently a worldwide explosion of teenagers wishing to undergo a sex change,” the petitioners say.
“The majority of the panel members have expressed strong views in favor of hormonal and surgical interventions for transition, dismissed known and potential risks associated with these interventions, and denigrated psychotherapeutic approaches as ‘conversion therapy.’”
The petition calls on the WHO to cancel its first meeting in February and “go back to the drawing board.” The panel is set to meet on February 19 to offer its recommendations at the WHO’s headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. The WHO is offering a public comment period of just three weeks that fell over Christmas and New Year’s Day and will end on January 8. The petitioners noted that most people are “unplugged” and celebrating the holidays during this time.
As of now, the petition has garnered more than 3,600 signatures from pediatricians, clinical psychologists, clinical social workers, parents of trans-identifying children, teachers, counselors, nurses, professors, and even one person who self-identified as a “transsexual.”
Several groups signed the petitions, including the LGBT Courage Coalition, Sex Matters, LGB Alliance, Transgender Trend, Gender Dysphoria Alliance, and Therapy First.
In recent years, several countries in Europe have pumped the brakes on both transgender social transitions and medical interventions for children. This came after detransitioners started speaking out about how it had harmed them.
Clear Thoughts (op-ed)
The World Health Organization’s (WHO) initiative to develop transgender health guidelines is under scrutiny, and rightly so. The critics, a group of conscientious individuals concerned about gender ideology, argue that the process is biased and rushed, with over 75% of the panel members being transgender activists.
This lack of diversity in perspective is alarming, especially when considering the absence of child development experts or individuals who have detransitioned. The panel’s composition raises questions about the impartiality of the guidelines being developed.
The petition, “WHO Decides?”, questions the wisdom of entrusting this critical task to a panel that seems predisposed towards a certain viewpoint. It underlines the need for a more balanced and comprehensive approach, one that considers all facets of this complex issue.
The critics’ demand is simple: a broader, more inclusive conversation. It’s a call for the WHO to reassess its approach and ensure that the guidelines truly serve the best interests of all individuals, not just a select few.

Well if 3/4 of the board members are transgender activists then there’s going to be a lopsided ideology and this should delegitimize their system

You need to take in account! Our children are being programmed from their first day of school, not understanding what is being taught to them. A child is like a sponge and have trust in adults.Teachers are not their parents. None of this nonsense should be taught, discussed with children until they have a voice. Then let them choose in high school if they even want to hear any of it. In high school it would then be optional for them to attend any of this . Parents! What is the school’s feeding them at lunch that could cause all this depression and confusion?

Time for the USA to get out of the United Nations. Most nations there hate us yet we continue to fund a disproportionate amount of money to the UN. Throw them out and let them resettle in some african nation.
