Karli Aylesworth arrived on Great Abaco Island this week to search for her missing mother, Lynette Hooker. She criticized her stepfather, Brian Hooker, for leaving the Bahamas shortly after his release from police custody.
Aylesworth suggested that her stepfather’s decision to fly to Atlanta contradicts his public claims of devotion. She said the circumstances surrounding the disappearance do not seem to add up.
“I think it shows his character. He somehow lost my mom at sea and cries on camera saying he’ll never stop searching, then leaves the next day.”
Hooker’s attorney said the return to the United States was prompted by a medical emergency involving his mother. The attorney maintained that Hooker is suffering from the trauma of losing his wife of 25 years.
“He has traveled to [the] United States of America to be at her bedside during this critical time.”
Aylesworth previously alleged that Brian Hooker has a history of anger issues and domestic violence. She has called for an intensive review of the facts to determine whether the incident was truly an accident.
Brian Hooker maintains that choppy seas and high winds caused his wife to fall overboard. Before leaving the islands, he described himself as heartbroken over the tragic accident in unpredictable waters.
“I am heartbroken over the recent boat accident in unpredictable seas and high winds that caused my beloved Lynette to fall from our small dinghy near Elbow Cay in the Bahamas.”
