Jake Canter Earns Bronze in Olympic Debut

Clear Facts
- American Jake Canter won the bronze medal in men’s snowboard slopestyle at the Winter Olympics.
- Canter secured the podium spot after completing his final run with a score of 79.36, while his closest competitors failed to surpass him.
- This is Canter’s first Olympic medal in his debut Winter Olympics appearance.
Jake Canter stood in suspense after his final run in the men’s snowboard slopestyle with a score of 79.36. He watched as Canada’s Mark McMorris crashed and Norway’s Marcus Kleveland narrowly missed his score, while New Zealand’s Dane Menzies also crashed in disbelief.
Canter celebrated his bronze medal once the last run finished, marking his first medal in his first Olympic Games. China’s Su Yiming took gold, and Taiga Hasegawa also finished on the podium.
This marks Canter’s first chance to represent Team USA at the Olympics after winning a World Cup in Aspen during the prior season, where he finished ahead of Su and Menzies. The U.S. previously won this Olympic event in 2018, when Red Gerard, who finished sixth this year, earned gold.
The World Cup snowboarding season will continue in March with events in Austria and Switzerland.
