Louisiana Parade Crash Injures Several at New Iberia Event

Authorities in Louisiana arrested a 57-year-old man after his vehicle plowed into pedestrians during a community celebration on Saturday.
The crash left multiple victims with critical injuries, and the driver faces charges of impaired driving and careless operation.
Police discovered an open container of alcohol inside the vehicle following the collision. The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office reported that at least 15 people sustained injuries during the festive event.
“Multiple pedestrians” were struck by the vehicle as Landry drove it, police said.
Emergency responders from Acadian Ambulance transported 13 individuals to local hospitals for treatment.
Two victims required emergency airlifts due to the severity of their condition following the impact.
“We are profoundly saddened by the news of the incident near the festival grounds,” the organizers said on Facebook.
“We are praying for the victims and for their families during this difficult time.”
The three-day festival traditionally features live music and parades to mark the Lao New Year.
In response to the tragedy, organizers cancelled all remaining music performances and alcohol sales for the weekend.
