Michael Cohen doubts Trump running in 2024: ‘It would destroy the great grift’

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • Michael Cohen cast doubt on whether former President Donald Trump will launch a 2024 presidential bid.
  • Trump’s former personal attorney predicted Trump will not run as it would limit his ability to spend the millions he has fundraised.
  • Cohen, who worked as Trump’s fixer for years, remains one of Trump’s most vocal critics.

Michael Cohen said he believes his ex-boss, former President Donald Trump, is unlikely to run in 2024 as it would affect his ability to spend the money he raised in political funds in the way he wants to.

Cohen cast doubt on Trump’s plan for a 2024 presidential bid during an interview with MSNBC’s Ali Velshi on Sunday,

“It would destroy the great grift. If he runs, all the money would then have to go into a campaign fund. People would have to start expressing who they are, and it becomes listed,” Cohen told Velshi.

“They don’t want that anymore than he wants that.”

Cohen added that his former boss had far greater discretion over how he spends millions raised through his PACs than he would if they were campaign funds.

“It’s a slush fund,” he said. “He can buy himself a new airplane, or he can use the money to fix his old airplane right now.”

Trump’s control over how to spend money raised through a PAC is pretty much unlimited under Federal Election Commission rules. But if he announces a candidacy, Trump is barred from spending the funds on his presidential campaign. That means, the former president likely would be more limited in spending his current PAC money.

Cohen has served as Trump’s former personal attorney and fixer for years. In 2018, he pleaded guilty to crimes including lying to Congress and campaign finance violations he says he committed at Trump’s orders.

After his release from prison after being furloughed in 2020, Cohen has since turned into one of Trump’s most adamant critics. He repeatedly claims that Trump is a conman while Trump in response has claimed Cohen is a liar.

Trump, since leaving the White House, has raised around $387 million through his multiple fundraising ventures, including his Save America PAC.

According to Bloomberg, Trump donated money to the more than 200 Republican candidates he’s endorsed ahead of the midterm elections.

Based on the excerpts, his book is boring, relating what he considers to be his own successes. It wasn’t even clear if he can separate truth from lying. As for proof of anything at all, nothing he wrote about came even close. Even liberal reviews held back on endorsing it as a literary masterpiece. It is merely an example of a work by a braggadocio.

Nothing like giving a criminal a voice. That’s the trouble with journalism today. They rarely talk about anything good because only the bad serves their loathing interest. Almost puked when members of congress was questioning him and a self loathing socialist asked him if he was doing better and hw said I’m trying. What a poser. Screw you ho did this interview and the publisher of his lying exists.

This article should have started out, Trump’s former ally and convicted felon. Cohen is in no place to give advice or opinions. Considering Cohen is on on of the Propaganda and Disinformation outlets for the Liberal commie Democrat Party, Cohen’s opinions should be taken with a grain of salt.
