Missing Fort Hood soldier’s family believes her remains were already found, thinks suspect commits suicide [Video]

• The family made the claims after the investigating committee said hours earlier they found some human remains in Texas.

Counsel for the family of missing Fort Hood soldier Vanessa Guillen, Natalie Khawam, said they think her remains were already found.

During a press conference on Wednesday, the attorney made the statement which was only a few hours after the U.S. Army confirmed it unearthed some unidentified human remains while searching for Guillen in Texas.

The discovery happened days after officials announced there’s a possibility for foul play related to the soldier’s disappearance.

Both the soldier’s sisters, Mayra and Lupe Guillen, called for a congressional inquiry over the Army’s treatment of the case. The sisters made the demand during the press conference, noting that they will adhere to the identification process to continue.

The Criminal Investigation Division (CID), the Army’s primary department for such probe said it would take some while for them to identify the remains.

Guillen’s attorney also said that a suspect who reportedly died by suicide on Wednesday morning in Killen, Texas works with Vanessa on about same period she went missing.

The claim was following an earlier announcement by the Killeen Police Department that a person sought concerning the Fort Hood case died due to a  self-inflicted gunshot wound early on Wednesday.

The suspect was a soldier on active duty, police reported.

Following the presser, the Army also confirmed that they received reports of a military suspect who died by suicide. They added that there’s also a civilian suspect that got arrested by the Texas Rangers linked to the vanishing of Pfc. Vanessa Guillen.

The Army further said the civilian suspect is an ex-wife of a former Fort Hood Soldier, adding that she’s now detained at  Bell County Jail, awaiting a civil court trial.

According to reports, Private First Class Vanessa Guillen was last spotted in April at a parking area in Fort  Hood, Texas, where she was assigned. Authorities also said that her personal effects were all left in the armory on the day she was reported missing.

On June 15, the Army posted a reward to $25,000 for anyone with details about Vanessa’s situation. The League of United Latin American Citizens, the country’s first Latino civil rights group, which has been assisting the Guillen family,  added another r$25,000 to the reward.

After two days, the Army launched a separate investigation after receiving reports that a superior officer was sexually abusing Vanessa.

Mayra earlier told NBC’s “Dateline” that the 20-year-old officer has told their mother about the harassment but never said who it was and never filed a report to the military’s prevention program for sexual harassment cases.
