Jacob Fatu and Drew McIntyre engaged in one of the most physical confrontations of WrestleMania 42, delivering on weeks of heated confrontations that escalated into an unsanctioned match Saturday night. Fatu promised to put McIntyre in the “rear view” during the final SmackDown before the event, and he made good on that guarantee.
The two powerhouses turned the match into an all-out war from the opening bell. The action immediately spilled outside the ring as Fatu dominated early, driving McIntyre into the announcer’s area and introducing an arsenal of weapons including tables, chairs, and a toolbox.
McIntyre fought back with equal aggression, even taking a moment to record himself on a cellphone before using it as a weapon against Fatu’s head. The Scottish warrior showed his frustration mounting as the match progressed, launching himself over the ring ropes in a high-risk dive to the outside.
Despite McIntyre’s offense, Fatu displayed remarkable resilience. The Samoan wrestler repeatedly kicked out of pin attempts, refusing to stay down even after McIntyre launched him off the top rope through a table.
The turning point came when Fatu caught McIntyre with a toolbox shot to the head. With his opponent laid out on a table inside the ring, Fatu climbed to the top rope and executed a spectacular moonsault, crashing through McIntyre and the table.
Fatu covered McIntyre for the three-count and the victory. The win marks Fatu’s second consecutive WrestleMania triumph in just two appearances, following his United States Championship victory over LA Knight at last year’s event.
