WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • President Donald Trump wonders why former President Obama has not endorsed Joe Biden for presidency.
  • Trump was suspicious on Senator Bernie Sanders’ withdrawal on the democratic nominee race while still retaining his delegates. The president described it “a weird deal.”
  • Trump urged Sanders’ followers to flip and support the republican party and his campaign manager, Brad Parscale, also encouraged the senator’s supporters to reelect Trump.

President Donald Trump on Wednesday asked why former President Barack Obama did not endorse presumptive Democratic nominee, Joe Biden, his former vice president.

As an answer to a question asked during a coronavirus briefing, Trump told the press “I don’t know why President Obama hasn’t supported Joe Biden a long time ago. He feels something is wrong… It does amaze me that President Obama hasn’t supported Sleepy Joe. It just hasn’t happened. When’s it gonna happen? Why isn’t he? He knows something that you don’t know, that I think I know, that you don’t know.”

Obama noted before that he would not promote a candidate until there’s a final nominee. Trump said that Obama has to react at some point, knowing that the former president does not want him to be reelected and serve for another four years.

Currently, NBC News is presuming Biden as the apparent democratic presidential nominee.

Trump added that he was also suspicious on Senator Bernie Sanders’ action — quitting the race but still keeping his delegates. The president described it as a “weird deal.”

The president tweeted on Wednesday and blamed Sanders’ primary loss on Senator Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass. He asserted that Sanders would have swept Super Tuesday if only Warren dropped out earlier.

Trump’s tweet came moments after Sanders declared his withdrawal from the presidential nominee race. “Bernie Sanders is OUT! Thank you to Elizabeth Warren. If not for her, Bernie would have won almost every state on Super Tuesday!”

The president even appealed for the senator’s followers to flip and support his party. “The Bernie people should come to the Republican Party, TRADE!” Trump tweeted.

Following the president’s call to Sanders’ supporters, his campaign manager, Brad Parscale, also urged them to reelect Trump.

In his statement, Parscale said, “President Trump is still disrupting Washington, DC, while Biden represents the old, tired way and continuing to coddle the communist regime in China. Democrat elites shoved Bernie Sanders to the side for a second time, leaving many of his supporters looking for a new home.”

In 2016, around 12 percent of Bernie supporters voted for Trump.
