WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • Alec Baldwin said he did not pull the trigger of the gun that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of “Rust.”
  • In an interview with ABC News, Baldwin said he does not know how a live bullet ended up on the movie set.
  • The actor also said, “Someone is responsible for what happened… but I know it’s not me.”

Alec Baldwin says he didn’t pull the trigger on a prop gun that discharged on the “Rust” movie set in Santa Fe. The shooting killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and wounded director Joel Souza.

“The trigger wasn’t pulled. I didn’t pull the trigger,” Baldwin told ABC News‘ George Stephanopoulos. “I would never point a gun at anyone and pull the trigger, never.”

On Wednesday, ABC released a promotional clip of the interview showing Baldwin breaking down while describing the late Hutchins. She was 42 years old when she was killed. This is the first sit-down interview Baldwin has made since the October 21 shooting.

The cast and crew have largely disagreed on who is responsible.

“Someone put a live bullet in a gun, a bullet that wasn’t even supposed to be on the property,” the 63-year-old actor said. “Someone is responsible for what happened, and I can’t say who that is, but I know it’s not me.”

Several lawsuits have been filed in the weeks since the shooting but the incident remains under investigation. No one has been charged.

In October, Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza said that police recovered the bullet that injured Souza as well as “possible additional live rounds” on set.

“I think there was some complacency on this set, and I think there are some safety issues that need to be addressed by the industry and possibly by the state of New Mexico, but I’ll leave that up to the industry and the state as to what those need to be,” Mendoza said.

Authorities executed a search warrant Tuesday at PDQ Arm and Prop LLC in Albuquerque. According to documents, they retrieved .45 ammo, photographs, an ammo can and “Rust” documents.

Baldwin told ABC News the shooting and death of Hutchins was the worst thing that ever happened to him.

    That’s a New one –
A Mind Control shooting mechanism now on firearms …
Where can I get one of these ????
BTW – Manslaughter Baldwin just set another nail in his victims coffin with that lame ass embarrassment of a psychotic statement.
Just wondering how he’d respond if an “accidental” murder happened to HIS family ?????

Sorry but Rust is a western show and from an expert and armor’s testimony they were using single action revolvers. If that is the case you have to pull the hammer back and pull the trigger for the gun to fire? The fake media keep using the fact there was real ammo put in the prop gun vs Alec Baldwin was using the gun and responsible. Of course he is a Democrat and Hollywood Celeb so he thinks he can get away with it. One thing is for sure no one else has admitted to putting real ammo in a prop gun. Accident or not Baldwin is responsible and should be held accountable.

Killer alec can whine and whimper all he wants to but there are at least 3 salient points: 1) he was holding the gun when it ‘went off’ 2) he had it pointed at a human being and 3) Halyna is STILL dead.
