The email scandal involving Hunter Biden may have jeopardized his father’s campaign weeks before the election, but President-elect Joe Biden made sure to welcome him on stage after his victory speech on Saturday.

Hunter held his baby son as he was embraced by his father, who made sure to give his baby grandson a kiss on the head.

Hunter has been the subject of several controversies throughout his father’s campaign.

Biden’s presidential campaign rival, President Donald Trump, kept bringing up Hunter’s connection to the Ukrainian and Chinese governments.

The president had repeatedly accused Hunter of corruption during his tenure as a board member of Ukrainian gas giant Burisma without providing any evidence.

The most recent controversy involving Hunter involved a laptop’s hard drive, reportedly owned by him, that was turned over to Rudy Giuliani, Trump’s personal attorney.

This hard drive allegedly contained dubious information about Hunter: proof of payments involving $21,000 paid to a “live cam” site and tens of thousands of dollars spent at a strip club, as well as pictures apparently showing Hunter in an intoxicated state.

The New York Post, which originally published the story, also claimed that the hard drive contained photos and videos featuring sex and drugs.

The report’s credibility was widely questioned, however.

Biden dismissed the story as a “smear campaign” and suggested that Giuliani was merely fed “Russian disinformation.”

Meanwhile, Hunter has been open about his recovery from drug addiction, which was also brought up by Trump during the first presidential debate in September.

Biden defended his son, saying, “My son, like a lot of people you know at home, had a drug problem. He’s overtaken it. He’s fixed it. He’s worked on it, and I’m proud of him. I’m proud of my son.”

Despite the issues surrounding Hunter, these ultimately did not crush Biden’s lead. Over the weekend, the former vice president was declared the 2020 election winner over rival President Trump.

After a bitter, divisive campaign between the two parties, Biden declared in his victory speech that it is now the time “to heal America” and practice unity across the nation.
