WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • A new research published in the scientific journal Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society suggests that exoplanets with residing extraterrestrial beings could see the planet earth.
  • According to Cornell University professor-director Lisa Kaltenegger, those star systems could be able to see the earth through the atmosphere of our “Pale Blue Dot.”
  • The star systems that could be able to see Earth through transit observations would be limited to up to 10 hours.

State authorities in Arizona and Wisconsin certified on Monday their 2020 election results, confirming President-elect Joe Biden’s victory by a slight margin against President Donald Trump.

Both declarations have again resulted in Trump’s loss in his appeal to halt the certification of results, as he and his legal counsel continue to spread claims without evidence of widespread voter fraud.

During the certification ceremony, Arizona’s Secretary of State Katie Hobbs (D) said: “Despite the unprecedented challenges, Arizonans showed up for our democracy. This election was conducted with transparency, accuracy, and fairness in accordance with Arizona’s laws and election procedures, despite numerous unfounded claims to the contrary.”

Arizona’s top officials ━ Gov. Doug Ducey (R), Attorney General Mark Brnovich (R), and Chief Justice of the state Supreme Court Robert Brutinel ━ approved the results. Lauding the state’s election process, Ducey signed the papers certifying the electoral college slate.

The certification in Arizona came after Trump’s legal team, led by Rudy Giuliani and Jenna Ellis, got involved in an unofficial hearing spearheaded by GOP state legislators. Urging the Arizona officials, the Trump’s team appealed to not proceed with the certification and instead, let the state legislator delegate its own Electoral College electors.

Trump lost a lawsuit in Arizona after a judge ruled out against the Arizona Republican Party’s appeal to halt election results in Maricopa County, the county with the highest population in the state. The county’s board of supervisors, consisting of four GOPs and one Democrat, all voted to certify Maricopa’s election results weeks ago.

“No matter how you voted, this election was administered with integrity, transparency, and most importantly in accordance with Arizona state laws,” Republican chair of the board Clint Hickman said then.

In Wisconsin, the statewide canvass was finished after a partial recount requested and funded by Trump’s campaign. The recount added more votes for Biden, further cementing his victory in Wisconsin.

Democrat Gov. Tony Evers certified the results later on Monday.

“I carried out my duty to certify the November 3rd election, and as required by state and federal law, I‘ve signed the Certificate of Ascertainment for the slate of electors for President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris,” he said.

According to Wisconsin’s board, Trump’s team could now “exercise the five-day recount appeal rights afforded to it under [state law] if the campaign believes the determination inaccurately reflects the election outcome.”
