Massive demonstrations in Iran have sparked claims from an opposition group that protesters have gained control in Abdanan and Malekshahi.
Iran faces growing unrest triggered by economic hardship, leading its government to introduce a new subsidy to mitigate rising food costs for millions of citizens.
President Trump wrote on Truth Social, “If Iran shoots [sic] and violently kills peaceful protesters, which is their custom, the United States of America will come to their rescue. We are locked and loaded and ready to go.”
Iranian Major General Amir Hatami replied by calling foreign criticism a threat and vowed that the armed forces are ready to respond decisively to any aggression.
He added, “I can say with confidence that today the readiness of Iran’s armed forces is far greater than before the war. If the enemy commits an error, it will face a more decisive response, and we will cut off the hand of any aggressor.”
The regime’s response includes subsidies for essential goods as prices soar and its currency weakens, with Iranian officials acknowledging the country is in a “full-fledged economic war.”
Protests persist despite these measures, with activists continuing to appeal for international support and warning that the situation remains unstable.
