Large caravan of migrants head to the U.S. ahead of Americas’ summit [Video]

A massive caravan of migrants from different parts of America gathered and set off from Tapachula, southern Mexico early Monday. The group hopes to reach the United States in time for this week’s Summit of the Americas in Los Angeles.
Mexico’s National Institute for Migration did not provide an estimate of the group’s size, but supporters believe it could be one of the region’s largest migrant caravans in recent years.
Reuters reported at least 6,000 people leaving the border city of Tapachula, but witnesses believe the number may reach up to 15,000 as more people join in.
Images captured by Reuters showed migrants starting their journey early under the rain. Some had umbrellas while some wore plastic ponchos. Their group, which includes several children, spanned across several road lanes.
The caravan represents diverse nationalities, with people fleeing from home countries “collapsing from poverty and violence,” said caravan organizer Luis Garcia Villagran. Many of the migrants fled from Venezuela.
Villagran called on summit attendees “to look at what is happening, and what could happen even more often in Mexico, if something is not done soon.”
Robinson Reyes, a migrant from Colombia, expressed his hopes that the large group would attract the attention of world leaders at the summit.
“We want a future for our children,” Reyes said. “We want to cross Mexico without any problems. God willing, they can talk and resolve this.”
There were also similarly large caravans in 2018 and 2019 when migrants, mostly from Central America, made the same journey across Mexico to the United States.
Recent years saw smaller groups, but a record number of migrants attempted to illegally cross the U.S.-Mexico border last year.
Migration activists are hoping that the Americas’ leaders would decide on a regional pact on migration later in the week.

Considering the chaos in thus country, we have NO business allowing anyone in! Inflation at a 40-year high, how can our system even begin to sustain any further strain? Logic is lost on American polticians.

You’re 100% right we can’t feed the Americans we have here we can’t help him the homeless is overwhelming our cities where do they plan on putting people when there’s no homes for those of us that are here I lost my home in the fires my husband and I are retired on a fixed income and we’re about to become another statistic and be homeless we cannot afford to rebuild I would like to see our government help those of us that are here and have been all of our lives and are suffering tremendously now before our politicians take on and more people from out of our country I’m sorry if that sounds bad but we need to take care of the people we have here before we take on more

You are absolutely right JD. What, if anything, is being done to stop these people at the border? And then what – they sit in Mexico and starve to death? IMO, Old Slow Joe is doing nothing, because he believes the large majority (if not all) of these people will become Democrats. I’m truly scared – how on earth can we accommodate this many illegal aliens? Is the border being further secured to stop this onslaught?

Isn’t it funny our so called President and vice president can’t go to the border but can travel to all of these other countries ??? The quicker they are gone maybe we can still save our Country !!!

What makes these poor people fleeing corruption and poverty to come here think it will be any different here? Here, we have the drug lords who have come from Mexico to the US and with, inflation going every higher poverty will soon overtake our country too. America is headed for what they’re fleeing from. They might soon find out they were better off staying in their own countries. Too bad they’re banking on the “American Dream” when it doesn’t exist anymore for most. We also have corrupt politicians, they’re running the country now. Watch the news and see what’s going on here, just the same as back in your homeland.

How does Sleepy Joe expect to feed, provide housing and medical for all of the immigrants when people are going hungry here because of inflation which will soon be a depression because of the Biden/Harris Administration? Even the food banks are having problems helping all that need food. Biden has already flooded our country with illegal aliens and he has sent them all over the US where they are now more of a problem. They are trying to come to the USA thinking it is the land that will save them. Unfortunately, with Biden in office, our country is on the verge of Socialism and Communism. Biden and his son both are in the Communists pockets. They will sell us all out.

Politicians have no problem spending other people’s money. They set their own wages and benefits using our tax dollars and then spend more of our tax dollars buying votes with giveaway programs for those not contributing to our nations resources. How do we care for our citizens in need when we are prioritizing support of millions of illegal aliens. Their corrupt home nations need to be responsible for their own citizens. Can you imagine the Harris administration’s new program is to pay young people in these countries with U.S. tax dollars not to come to the US? Those countries need to be paying the US to take and care for their throw away citizens. Beware and prepare for the tipping point. The financial collapse of the USA!
