- A grand jury indictment accuses Lemon of menacing behavior and obstructing churchgoers during the protest.
Don Lemon addressed concerns about his possible imprisonment after being arrested for his actions at a Minneapolis church protest.
He remains adamant that he attended the demonstration as an independent journalist, dismissing worries about his legal future.
“I know there are people who think I’m gonna be locked up or whatever.”
“I ain’t worried about that.”
Lemon indicated that recent events have motivated him to be even more outspoken in the future.
“And what this did was really open my eyes to a lot. So if you think that I was outspoken before this …”
He punctuated his comments with a noticeable laugh and a warning.
“Just wait. Just wait.”
Lemon dismissed criticism and pointed to his own conviction about telling the truth.
“So I know that there are people who think like, oh, you know, do this, and I’m going to be locked up or whatever.”
“I ain’t worried about that.”
“You heard the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
“I ain’t even worried about that. Like not.”
“Don’t even think about it,” he said.
The chyron during Lemon’s remarks read:
“Republicans better wake up. A dictator doesn’t need Congress.”
Lemon suggested he remains optimistic despite the turmoil caused by his arrest.
“So whatever — you know, whatever happens — I am — I always think that something good is going to happen,” he stated.
“And something good usually always happens if you have that mindset.”
Authorities charged Lemon after a grand jury determined there was probable cause, detailing that he and agitators allegedly menaced and intimidated church staff and congregants.
President Trump commented on Lemon’s situation, making it clear he was not a supporter of the former CNN anchor.
“He’s a sleazebag! Everyone’s known that.”
“He’s a washed up,” Trump remarked.
“Probably from his standpoint, the best thing that could happen to him. He had no viewers.”
“He was a failed host. And now, he’s in the news.”
“I didn’t know anything about it.”
