Democrats are anticipated to take the lead from 14 strongly challenged U.S. Senate polls with total control of the chamber in Tuesday’s race. The outcomes from no less than five of those selections may not yet be ready for days, and in a few instances, even in months.

Overall, 12 Republican-controlled seats and two from Democrats are for the taking, according to a Reuters study of three independent U.S. elections analysts, including the Cook Political Report, Inside Elections, and the Center for Politics at the University of Virginia.

Mitch McConnel, Senate majority floor leader and leading Republican on the house, said during a campaign break that the party’s probability of holding on to the majority is fifty percent at the most.

The think tanks project that Democrats could hold as much as 55 of the Senate’s 100 seats, which would bring them back as the majority for the first time in ten years. The possibility of retaining control on the House of Representatives, which has 435 seats, is also expected.

Analysts and state election officers said outcomes from some polls are yet to be confirmed after Election Day, citing the current exceptional volume of mail-in ballots and probable overflow votes in four positions.

If Democrats emerge victorious from the election and get control of the Senate, Senator Chuck Schumer said, “Nothing is off the table.”

“We have a moral imperative to the people of America to get a whole lot done if we get the majority,” the Senate Democratic leader said.
