  • The Russian invasion of Ukraine is entering its second month.
  • Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called for anti-war protests worldwide exactly one month since the war began.
  • Zelensky called for people to make their support for Ukraine heard.

As the Russian war on Ukraine starts to enter its second month, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called for a worldwide demonstration of support for Ukraine.

During his nightly address on March 24, exactly one month since Russia’s first attacks, Zelensky pleaded in English, “Come to your squares, your streets, make yourselves visible and heard.”

Zelensky reiterated that the Russian invasion affects not only Ukraine but the rest of the world: “The war of Russia is not only the war against Ukraine. Its meaning is much wider.”

The Ukrainian president also asked Russian citizens to continue pushing back against the war. He urged them to “leave Russia so as not to give your taxes to the war,” if possible.

Zelensky shared how the continuing attacks, which have already reached one month, break his heart.

The president requested everyone, “From this day and after that, show your standing, come from your offices, your homes, your schools and universities, come in the name of peace, come with Ukrainian symbols to support Ukraine.”

People from several countries across the world, including Russia, have staged anti-war protests. Thousands of Russian protesters have been arrested, while citizens who criticized the country’s military efforts are reportedly threatened with heavy legal consequences.

Intelligence experts have pointed out that Russian leaders most likely did not expect the invasion to last this long.

According to CIA Director Bill Burns, Russian President Vladimir Putin expected to overcome Ukraine’s capital of Kyiv and seize control of the Ukrainian government within the first two days of invading.

But after facing the strength of Ukrainian defense and resolve, Russia has been kept at bay outside the capital for four weeks now. Intelligence reports from the U.S. and U.K. have stated that Ukrainian forces have started going on the offensive by driving Russian troops back, further away from the city’s center.

As the invasion reached its one-month mark, U.S. President Joe Biden has scheduled a meeting with other NATO leaders in Brussels. The alliance is set to announce another package of coordinated sanctions reportedly targeting Russian legislators.

Anti-war protests are not going to stop Putin the Great. The only way to stop Putin is to obliterate his forces back to Russia.
