Bernie Sanders campaign co-chair says choosing between Trump and Biden is like eating ‘half a bowl of s–t’

Nina Turner, a co-chair of Bernie Sanders’ now axed presidential campaign, vividly described what it’s like to choose between President Donald Trump and Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election.

“It’s like saying to somebody, ‘You have a bowl of s–t in front of you, and all you’ve got to do is eat half of it instead of the whole thing.’ It’s still s–t’, ” Turner told The Atlantic in a story published Monday.

Turner is a former Ohio state senator. She was quoted in an article trying to analyze Trump’s paths to re-election, including by exploiting disaffected supporters of Sanders’ socialist campaign.

Sanders lost to Biden despite winning the first three state Democratic contests this year.

Trump alleges the Democratic Party cheated Sanders out of the nomination.

“The Crooked DNC is working overtime to take the Democrat Nomination away from Bernie, AGAIN!” Trump tweeted on Feb 18, 2020.

Trump’s campaign is now looking to woo Sanders supporters by highlighting Biden’s support to the Iraq War, that the former vice-president voted for the North American Free Trade Agreement and authored a 1994 crime law credited with contributing to the “mass-incarceration” of black people.

“Last time I got a lot of Bernie Sanders voters, as you know, a very good percentage. People were shocked, mostly because of trade,” the president said last month in a discussion with his eldest son Donald Trump Jr.

“One thing Bernie was right on was trade. He said that everybody in this country is being hurt badly by our trade deals. They’re so bad. And I get a lot of support from Bernie Sanders [supporters]. I think I’m going to have it again this time,” Trump added.

Although Sanders has already endorsed Biden’s candidacy early this year, some of his supporters refused to jump aboard.

Briahna Joy Gray, a former Sanders national press secretary, tweeted Saturday that journalists should “start asking Biden why he doesn’t support the progressive policies that EARNED Bernie enthusiastic support.”
